“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people, than you can in two years by trying to get them interested in you.”  These are Dale Carnegie's words.

It is an interesting concept and a timeless truth; but think about the statement expressed a different way:

“You can gain more customers in two months by becoming interested in your prospects’ businesses, than you can in two years by trying to get them interested in yours.”

Start 2013 off on the right foot: Make a list right now of some things you can do to demonstrate your interest in your prospect’s business--and think about ways to avoid having the conversation center on yours!

Make a list right now of what you should discuss to demonstrate your interest in your prospect’s business, while ensuring that the conversation does not center on you or your business.
