14 T O P 10 1. Companies will attract more Millennials by highlighting the ways they foster growth in their people with mentoring and leadership opportunities. T-Mobile is already doing this. On their career page, they spotlight the fact that they have replaced “old-school per- formance reviews” for on-the-job training, classes, and leadership opportunities that “increase your awesomeness.” 2. Businesses will showcase their current employees by including them in videos, photos, blog posts, and content that demonstrates the company culture. JetBlue’s career page already features videos that walk you through a day in the life of a flight attendant, quick- ly showing anyone interested an authentic but engaging view of the job. 3. Companies will make sure their websites are mobile-optimized since the clear majority of job candidates will be using their smartphones to both search for and apply for jobs. 4. Hiring companies will recognize that in order to attract Millennial candidates, they will need to be able to offer three things: competitive salaries, work-life balance, and strong company values. Also Millennials want you to text, not call. 5. Job-seekers will be noticeably less interested in amenities that bring “fun” into the work- place like ping pong or an in-office keg, preferring instead to have a work environment that allows for more fun in their life. Candidates will want flexibility in their work sched- ule and the ability to work remotely so they can be both happier and more productive at work and at home. 6. Hiring managers will be more focused than ever on paying better than the competition. In this strong job market, an employee who is unhappy with their compensation will feel unappreciated and likely leave for a better paying position which will cost the company 2-3 times that person’s annual salary in the end.
