One company that is already doing this designed day-long job auditions in which about 100 students competed for cash by solving real business prob- lems with data. 2. While gamification first became popular in recruitment, it will now become more prev- alent in the world of selections as well. Companies will have candidates play games specially designed to demonstrate their thinking, problem solving ability, level of focus, and goal orientation - a good way to get a basic understanding of their innate behaviors. 3. More than ever, businesses will look to hire salespeople who specialize in either specific parts of the sales process, or specific verticals and categories in the industry, rather than hiring generalists. 4. Role play will earn its way into the selection process, allowing hiring managers to better understand the candidate’s natural behaviors and coachability. Candidates will be given information in advance and, if possible, a video example of the role play done well so they can prepare and be at their very best. After the role play, the manager will ask the candidate for their self-assessment, offer coaching, and then run a second role play to assess growth. 5. With unemployment at extreme lows, the war for talent will be as intense as ever. Refusing to take chances when making new hires, companies will depend on strong, validated talent assessments to gain a clear understanding of the candidate’s potential for excellence. 6. Also related to unemployment, businesses will seek opportunities to balance out the influx of Millennial workers in the market by reengaging more experienced workers who bring maturity and experience to the workplace -and often a lower price tag.
